Situated and Contextually Based Learning

These research syntheses include evidence about the ways that parents' and children's interests serve as the foundation for children's learning. Topics include, but are not limited to, toys' influence on child behavior, child-choice making, and parent assets as contexts for child learning.
- Family Natural Learning Environments
These research syntheses include evidence about the ways that the home environment provides natural learning opportunities for children. Topics include, but are not limited to, routine-based interventions for young children, daily occupations as contexts for child learning, and family activity settings as contexts for everyday learning.
- Community Natural Learning Environments
These research syntheses include evidence about the ways that children's communities can provide opportunities for learning. Topics include, but are not limited to, child participation in everyday activity settings, recreation and leisure opportunities as sources of everyday learning, and community activity settings as related to academic achievement.
